Osha Liang Sponsors Compudopt's ‘Women in Tech' Event
On February 8th, non-profit Compudopt hosted their first ever ‘Women in Tech’ forum at their Houston headquarters.
The event was attended by local students and a number of professional women who volunteered to assist. Students were able to participate in one-on-one discussions with mentors and enjoyed hands-on activities including a live demonstration of medical devices by Boston Scientific, and a visit to Compudopt’s refurb lab to learn about hardware and coding.
The event concluded with an all-female panel session featuring panelists of varying ages and ethnicities from a wide variety of industry sectors. Discussion topics included: how to identify careers paths, challenges women face in male dominated industries, the gender pay gap, essential components to securing successful careers, and the role of technology in the workplace and in today’s world.
Post-event feedback from participants was very positive:

To date, Compudopt has distributed close to 16,000 computers and provided over 90,000 hours of tech education to underserved students. Women in Tech was a wonderful collaborative space to offer support, tools and first-hand insights to help prepare our next generation of female professionals for a successful future.
