简体中文 繁體中文

Senior officers of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) visited China to further communication and cooperation between China and AIPPI in the field of intellectual property protection. Visiting delegates included Ms. Renata Righetti, AIPPI President, and Osha Liang’s Managing Partner, Mr. Jonathan Osha, Reporter General of AIPPI.

On May 29, 2019, senior officers of AIPPI visited the Intellectual Property Tribunal of the Supreme People’s Court of China in Beijing. They were personally received by Mr. Dongchuan Luo, Vice Chair of the Supreme People’s Court and Chair of the Intellectual Property Tribunal. Officers from the International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People’s Court and from the Intellectual Property Tribunal also attended the meeting.  Mr. Luo gave an introduction of the newly formed Intellectual Property Tribunal of the Supreme People’s Court, and explained the significance of the establishment of the Intellectual Property Tribunal by the Supreme People’s Court. This recent development is an important step for China towards comprehensively deepening its judicial reform which will have great, far-reaching effects. The AIPPI representatives expressed their appreciation to Mr. Luo for arranging the visit and recognized that the establishment of the Intellectual Property Tribunal of the Supreme People’s Court of China is conducive to unifying and normalizing the standard of judgement and undertakes an important role in promoting the modernization and harmonization of the international intellectual property system in China.

AIPPI has long enjoyed a good relationship with China in terms of cooperation and communication on intellectual property rights. Through furthering communication and cooperation, the two parties will jointly promote the development and improvement of the intellectual property system in China.

On May 30, 2019, senior officers of AIPPI continued their Beijing visit and met with Ms. Yan Gao, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) as well as officers from the International Liaison Department, the Legal Affairs Department and the Patent and Trademark Law Office. Members from other departments of the CCPIT and officers from the Hangzhou Council for the Promotion of Trade also joined the meeting. Participants exchanged views on furthering cooperation between the two institutions and co-hosting the 2020 AIPPI World Congress in Hangzhou.

President Gao indicated that the CCPIT is willing to work closely with AIPPI to jointly make the 2020 AIPPI World Congress in Hangzhou a high-profile, professional and globally influential event. AIPPI hopes that the 2020 AIPPI World Congress in Hangzhou will set a record for the highest number of participants.  The AIPPI representatives expressed their appreciation to the CCPIT for its long-term support of AIPPI and its China Group, and invited CCPIT’s representatives to join this year’s AIPPI World Congress, to be hosted in London in September (https://aippi.org/events/category/aippi-meeting/aippi-annual-world-congress/).

The meeting concluded after productive discussions.
